About Cannabis

Feedstock background: Hemp vs. Marijuana

Due to almost a century of misinformation about Cannabis, the distinction between Cannabis and its two primary species — hemp and marijuana — has become unclear to the many and some even consider the three plants to be one in the same. Because of this, the three terms are often used interchangeably, which has created difficulties when understanding the usage and benefits of Hemp vs Marijuana and Cannabis in general.

Cannabis is a family of plants with two primary classifications — Indica and Sativa. While marijuana can be considered a member of either the Indica or Sativa families, Hemp is a member of the Cannabis Sativa family.

Because Hemp and Marijuana both derive from the Cannabis Sativa family, they do share certain similarities; however, due to each plant’s biological structure, they have several very distinct and crucial differences.

Hemp vs. Marijuana: Composition

Cannabis contains a variety of different compounds called Cannabinoids, two of rich, and the most dominant are Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD).

Both Cannabinoids have shown to provide profound benefits to the human body; however, THC induces psychoactive effects (gets the user “high”), while CBD does not contain any psychoactive properties.

When comparing Hemp vs Marijuana, this is a huge distinction; while Hemp contains a very low concentration of THC (0.3% or less), Marijuana is abundant in THC with concentrations between 15% to 40%.

Because of this, Hemp is grown primarily for industrial purposes, while Marijuana is grown for recreational and medicinal purposes.

Hemp vs. Marijuana: Usages

Because Marijuana is abundant in THC, it is naturally grown for its psychoactive properties, whether it be for recreational or medicinal use. Marijuana can be smoked, inhaled, ingested or injected directly into the body. THC is also commonly extracted from the plant and used in a variety of methods including vaporizers, capsules, edibles and more.

Hemp, on the other hand, is primarily used for industrial purposes as it is capable of producing hundreds of crucial resources such as paper, clothing, building materials, biofuel, food products, oils and more. With the fast-growing popularity of CBD across the globe, hemp is also used to produce a wide variety of THC-free CBD products.

The Product

The main product of the CHROMTEC is:

affordable highly purified CBD (Cannabidiol) isolates with no THC, purity up to 99%.

Application of Product.

CBD (Cannabidiol) is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counteract the psycho-activity of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol).

Scientific and clinical research – much of it sponsored by the US government – underscores CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including Autism; Anxiety; Chronic Pain; Depression; Diabetes; Epilepsy; PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder); Movement Disorder and other Neurological disorders.

CBD has demonstrable neuroprotective and neurogenic effects, and its anti-cancer properties are currently being investigated at several academic research centers in the United States and elsewhere. Further evidence suggests that CBD is safe even at high doses.

Thus, purified CBD can be used in products ranging from cosmetics, food and beverage, to health supplements, all those economic sectors contribute to an extremely huge market.

CBD in the North America Today

In the years since Charlotte’s story, the stigma towards CBD and cannabis in North America has dramatically changed.

Those that once opposed cannabis, now turn to CBD for relief, and its therapeutic properties are helping to change the lives of thousands of people around the world.

While the movement has made massive strides forward, we are still just in the early stages. It continues to thrive at exponential rates is literally achieving the impossible.

Here are just a few of the landmark events that have occurred:

  • There has been a massive growth of awareness and surge in the retail sales of CBD, leading analyst to predict that the CBD market could reach a value of $22 billion by 2022 all around the world;
  • Research has revealed even more therapeutic applications of CBD;
  • Hemp-derived CBD was federally legalized in US under the 2018 Farm Bill;
  • It has been widely reported that WHO officially recommended on December 14, 2017 that CBD not be internationally scheduled as a controlled substance;
  • The FDA approved of a CBD-based oral solution called Epidolex;
  • CBD products are now being sold online in stores across USA and some of Canadian Provinces.

The Future of CBD

While the perception towards CBD has progressed dramatically over the years, CBD still is not fully normalized across North America. There are still many who stand in opposition to CBD and other cannabis-derived compounds and many more who aren’t aware of their benefits.

In order for CBD to reach its full potential and change the lives of as many people as possible, there’s still more work that needs to be done. While there may be some challenges ahead, the strength of the CBD community has shown that nothing is going to stand in its way.

CBD is here to stay.

Cannabis compounds like CBD have the potential to impacts the lives of millions of people, and with continued effort from all of us, it can change the world!
